Overview

In short, the fundraising group keeps 30%* of all sales.  Shipping for your entire order is free if you are within the contiguous 48 states.

Our typical fundraiser features our 16 oz. Platinum Tin container candles. We are delighted to add other items as are seasonally available, such as triple-layered candles (great for school and team colors), novelty items, and tea light sets.

 

Note due to high demand during peak seasons (autumn and early winter), we limit the total number of fundraising events severely. Please make your reservations early.

 

How Much Will You Raise?

To get an idea of the success of this fundraiser, here are some estimates: 

  • the price for each candle sold is $20.  The fundraising organization (you) keeps 30%, which is $6.00 per candle sold.
  • if you ask each person to sell approximately 20 candles (which is easy to do), then you will raise $120 per member. A more dedicated group can easily raise significantly more.  For example, at 35 candles each, each member would directly raise $210 per member.
  • to arrive at an estimate of the amount of funds your entire group can raise, just take the number of members you have and multiply by $120 (or higher, if your group is well motivated). If you have 25 members, a good estimate is $3,000.00 for your organization. With 60 members you can imagine $7,200.00. And so on...
     

HINT: You will wish to present these numbers to your group - they have a hugely motivating effect. Our most wildly successful fundraisers have been the ones where each group member is expected to sell at least "x" number of candles.  There has been no exception to this rule!

 

The Process In Detail

The entire fundraising cycle typically takes just 6 weeks from start to finish. It is simple and we provide everything you need.

1) The fundraising organization (you) decides to raise funds and
contacts us. We have references and contacts from previous fundraisers that we will be happy to share with you. 

2) We will ask you a few questions, to determine the best fund-raising set up for you, such as:
- how many people in your group? how many will be participating in the fundraiser?
- what time frame are you considering? (either let us know when you would like to begin, or by when you need the raised funds, and we can work backwards from that date)
- what state are you in? (sales vary by region)

NOTE: we will assist you with your choices of items and fragrances, we have a terrific knowledge of what sells best at various times of the year.  Typically you will have 10-12 various fragrances, and a few novelty and fun items (cinnamon bun pillars, scent rings, etc.)

3) We will custom provide for you:
- Product Sheets (with color photos of the products and detailed scent descriptions)
- Order Forms (customized with your group's name and information)
 
4) Your members take orders for approximately 2 weeks, and collect all monies. Members to turn in all funds to you with their order forms (and keep a photocopy for themselves, for proper distribution of the items when they arrive at your end).
 
5) Send your Master order form (simply a tally of your group's orders) and payment to Sweet Scents LLC. The fundraising group keeps 30% of the sales (*less if under $800 total sales), and sends a cashier's check, cash currency, or money order to Sweet Scents LLC for the remaining amount. (If your organization is located in PA, then 6% PA tax must be collected, unless you provide a copy of your tax-exemption certificate).
 
6) We will then begin the hand-pouring process. Each fundraiser is custom-poured (we only pour one time, please ensure that your order is complete and correct!). Within four weeks of order receipt your candles will be on the way to you; we usually ship within two or three weeks, but please allow for four weeks.  We pay for all shipping and insurance costs, and we include gifts for the top seller(s)!

*if sales fall under $500, we reserve the right to reclassify the transaction as *not* a fundraiser and you have the choice of canceling the fundraiser or purchasing the candles at appropriate wholesale prices.  This is a rare occurrence.
